George Loftus Noyes (1864–1954) was a distinguished American Impressionist associated with the Boston School. Born in Ontario to American parents and later based in Boston and throughout New England, Noyes studied at the Massachusetts Normal Art School before continuing his artistic training in Paris. He became known for his atmospheric landscapes, harbor scenes, and floral still lifes, combining Impressionist color and light with the disciplined draftsmanship characteristic of the Boston tradition. His works were exhibited at prominent American institutions including the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Noyes's paintings remain sought after for their refined technique, luminous palette, and sensitive interpretation of the New England landscape and its natural beauty.
