Born in Kladno, Bohemia, into an artistic family, Fisher received his earliest instruction from his father before studying art in Prague. He immigrated to the United States in \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e1874\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, initially settling in \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNew York\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, where he remained for more than a decade before moving to California in 1886. Fisher established a studio in San Francisco and became recognized for his sensitive interpretations of the American landscape. He later spent time painting in Hawaii before returning to California.
